Longstory

Posted by Tim Cole on 17th September 2006

I recorded this in 2003, but decided to put it up on my page yesterday. It is by no means perfect, but kind of an example of the kind of guitar material I used to like to create (I am now really trying to focus on songs for while).. It is melodic, but also a bit ambient. It kind of reminds me a bit of one of my all time favourite guitarists, Michael Hedges (check out Aerial Boundaries). However, he is (was, he died a few years back in a car crash) so brilliant that I almost quit playing guitar altogether back in the 1990s. Long Story in no where in his league (by million miles), but I feel honoured to have heard him play live. It is a long story, but I heard him twice. Once was as a support act to Suzanne Vega. He was on first. He was simply so stunning that when he had finished I was in shock - I could hardly speak. Sorry Suzanne, but I had to leave after he had finished as I was wasted, blown away. His passing was a great, great loss.. I have never heard anyone play like him since.

New Song Finished

Posted by Tim Cole on 15th September 2006

About a week ago I finished a new song I had been working on for a few months. The idea and lyrics went through more changes in direction than there are bends on the Monte Carlo race track. Will reveal more in due course, but it is a great idea, is very rocky and, if I am brutally honest, it is also probably the first song that I have written that has real global hit potential. The song is “You Can Do It“. My 6 year old song keeps singing it, so maybe it has appeal for the younger audience :) .
Now it is done I can stand back from it, and I would love to hear it covered. I won’t post it here for a while as I have given it to a friend who has passed it on to a charting band. I want to see what happens there first. I would also have to re-record the vocals before I posted it, as my singing is not far short of terrible…. :)
